Thank you, Immigrants!
Did you know that Labor Day is said to have been founded by Peter McGuire, the son of Irish immigrants?
Immigrants are essential to America’s economy and way of life.
In 2022, the U.S. Department of Labor reported that the immigrant labor force rose by 1.8 million and that about 18% of America’s workforce is foreign-born. Just last week, the American Immigration Council reported that almost half of America’s Fortune 500 companies were founded by immigrants and their children in 2023. These companies generated a total of $8.1 trillion in revenue in 2022, which is greater than the GDP of many developed countries (like Japan, Germany, and the United Kingdom). In the same year, these Fortune 500 companies also employed more than 14.8 million people.
The success of these companies is a testament to the ingenuity and hard work of immigrants, who come to America with the hope of contributing to this great nation and building a better life. It’s truly an honor to be a part of the immigrant community. I am proud to be the daughter of immigrants, and to help other immigrants accomplish the American Dream.
To all the hardworking individuals who make America great, thank you!
